Sagittarius May 16 – Hoarding Your Ideas

Hello Sagittarius, and welcome back to TenPaths Tarot. I’m so glad to see you again. Let’s dive right in.

Today Spirit gave you the oracle card, Organize the Mind. And here we see a wise sage of a woman looking back at her life and thinking about all of the twists and turns it’s taken, and where she might want to go in the future.

I’m reading from the bottom right and going clockwise. The first card out is the Four of Wands; and it has a similar energy to the Knight of Cups next to it.

The Four of Wands shows your dream. In this card, the dream depicted is a romance. Maybe your dream is a romance, but maybe it’s not. But this image indicates a strong foundation. Four represents foundation; stability. And you appear to be looking into a bright future.

Look in the background of this image. Can you see the friends? They’ve been locked out of the celebration? You have pulled yourself away unintentionally. You’re so focused on building this dream that everything else gets put to the side.

Then we have the Knight of Cups. And here he has built a fortress around him, in a sense. He could step out of it. But he has protective stones all the way around him. He’s got his cup of love. It’s kind of small. That’s not what he’s concentrating on. He is tattooed with his thoughts. So maybe his ideas and thoughts are more important to him right now than love.

This figure is walling himself in. He says, “If I just concentrate hard enough, I can have whatever I want.”

Now we’re continuing to move through your recent past. And two cards came out together, and so I am going to present them together. One is the Five of Pentacles. One is the Seven of Wands.

The Seven of Wands shows a woman who sees her dreams at the top of a mountain. But look at the long journey she must take to get there!

In the Five of Pentacles, she has started building a material life but, in focusing on that, she has locked herself away from friends and family. And now she is starting to feel isolated. So this dream–this vision you had of a perfect life– is actually now starting to make you feel isolated– maybe a little trapped. We’ve got barbed wire in the picture.

Now the next three cards overlap your recent past with your current energy, and they form a corner in the rectangular layout of this reading. Let’s take a look at those three cards.

First we have the Seven of Swords. And this is someone who has put away negative thoughts, or at least that’s been their goal. There may be work that still needs to be done. There is darkness, indicating the unknown. The figure is taking what he has learned from past experiences, and that is the precious jewel he carries away.

Above the Seven of Swords is Ariadne, a goddess who would give those who came to fight the Minotaur a ball of yarn. The adventurer would then string the yarn through the maze—the labyrinth—so that he could find his way back out. So we may be afraid that if we don’t have that connection to our past–if we don’t keep those troubling thoughts– then maybe we will lose ourselves. Maybe we won’t be able to find our way back.

But there’s another possibility. In the corner of the image, there is a bowl of yarn. And in the English language, yarn is a story that is not true. So are these stories that we’ve been telling ourself? That simply aren’t true? And are we putting too much value in these stories?

Now we’re starting to set those tales aside. We have quite a few set aside in the bowl. And we’re just trying to take what is true and valuable—the blue ball of yarn—and work with that alone.

That energy of self-reflection continues into the Celtic Owl, which in other decks would be The Hanged Man. Now The Hanged Man indicates that you are trying to see things from a different perspective. You are in a period of waiting—just as an owl waits in the tree for something to come along. There is darkness, or in this case twilight. So we’re somewhere between seeing with clarity and the unknown.

Gradually our focus is becoming a little better. The owl will look at what it wants and examine it from different angles before it takes flight. And what do we want to take flight toward? Well, that may be part of the issue.

The next card is the Ten of Spirals. And here we have someone who is half horse—that’s you, Sagittarius! This figure just needs a bow and arrow. But look at all of the dreams and desires he is carrying. He’s now at a crossroad. He has to choose a direction. And he is afraid of leaving any of these great ideas—these inspirations—behind. But to travel with that load on his back is going to be impossible.

And as we go down one of these roads—whichever one we choose—more ideas will come; more opportunities will present themselves. In fact, Spirit likes you to move in life, because then it can put opportunities in your path. But by clinging on to this load and thinking that every thought, idea, and aspiration we have is useful, it’s like hoarding. We are idea hoarders! We are desire hoarders! We’re afraid to let any of those hopes, desires, past wishes go, for fear we’ll never get them back again. And we may not, or we may come back to them. But we can’t develop naturally by weighing ourselves down.

Let’s remember, too, that the brain is always active. It’s always going to be putting more thoughts, ideas, desires into you. It is the brain’s function. You can’t stop that. But it doesn’t mean every thought that comes to you—every aspiration—should be given the same import.

Then we have The Pilgrim. We have another traveler, and she too is weighted down. Look at all of the baggage she carries. She is not going to be able to carry that forever. And again, as she goes, more and more will be piled on.

What we might want to do is put some of those thoughts away. Just say, “I’m going to put these away. I’ll just write them on a list and put them aside.” And if you never visit them again—if you never need to draw on them—that is okay. They weren’t that important. You can let them go.

And so now we’re back at the oracle card, Organize the Mind. And in this travel we’ve mentioned that Spirit will put things into your path, and you will not need to hoard all of these ideas, or all of these potential opportunities that you’re imagining. Because as you travel, you will encounter spiritually-provided serendipity. Opportunities will be given to you.

And in the oracle card, the crow is weaving the word “serendipity” into its great vision of a nest. And so it has found serendipity, and that good fortune has become part of the structure; part of the dream.

And that is all Spirit has for you today. I enjoyed being with you today, and I hope to see you again soon. Bye for now.
