Capricorn May 16 – Empress or Sunflower?

Hello Capricorn, and welcome back to TenPaths Tarot. Let’s dive right in.

The first card that Spirit gave us was Breaking Illusions; it’s the oracle card. It’s the message for today. Spirit wants you to concentrate on this message as we do this reading.

And so what is the illusion? How do you want people to see you? You would like people to see you as The Empress—someone who has everything under control, who can just make things happen by demanding them. You want to be jaw-dropping. One man in the background—his jaw literally drops in awe. Being the empress is in the back of your mind; what you would like to happen.

You really want it all. You want the Ten of Pentacles. The Ten of Pentacles is a material life of abundance that can last generations. Now, to do that, you don’t mind doing the hard work.

And this is your recent past we’re talking about now.

Next we have the Eight of Pentacles. And that shows some one willing to do the work; willing to hone their craft. And this person’s work must be in great demand. Look at all of these things he’s created. And he is very focused on this dream. He sees this work as leading to a grand life.

And to some degree we have that success. Our work is bringing bounty. Sor far, it is not bringing as much as we had hoped for, but we still have a long way to go. Our work is now in such demand that a crown appears in the card. Even the king wants our creations! And everything looks good.

So what is the problem? Well one thing I see is that we’re gradually going down in pentacles—we’re having to scale down a bit. First we imagined The Empress. Then we went to a ten; settled for an eight. And finally we have a lot of what we want, but it’s a seven. So we’ve actually had a slight reality-check.

We still want solidity. We still want that Ace of Stones—and now we’re coming into your current energy—which is this rock. And the problem with the rock is it’s not really serving any purpose. And rocks are heavy. This dream that we had is now weighing us down.

Either it wasn’t quite what we expected, which could be what the Nine of Scrolls indicates. Scrolls represent our thoughts. So we may be thinking, “This isn’t quite what I imagined. It isn’t quite what I wanted.” And look at that memorial stone and compare it to the image in the Ace of Stones. The rocks are similar in shape.

And so we’re rethinking this whole plan; this whole image of ourselves we wanted to convey. Maybe we are getting ready to shed that mask; to shed the illusion. And Spirit says, that is okay You wanted to be like the sun; glowing and admired. But you don’t have to be the sun. You can be the sunflower. You can be a scaled down version of what you wanted, if it will bring you more balance; if it will relieve the stress you’re putting on yourself.

And look at all the beauty around the sunflower. Scaling down will let some of this beauty come your way. And look! Some of the ground surrounding the flower is empty. We don’t know what is going to fill in. There may be more opportunities coming our way—new growth, if we allow it—if we release some of that need to be in control.

Can you imagine The Empress being this beautiful sunflower? She’s become more beautiful as she’s scaled down. And instead of life being in the background, it now surrounds you. So that is likely the direction we want to go.

We might want to give up some of that anxiety we’ve been feeling. Have we accomplished that yet? No, but it’s a process.

The next card is The Moon. And again, let’s go back to that Ace of Stones. The rock is similar to the island in The Moon card. We’re on this island, and we’re screaming, “I want off of this isolated place!”

The moon indicates that there is spiritual guidance—that Spirit is going to try to guide you out of this well of emotion you are feeling; out of this well of emotion and out of this disillusionment.

And now we return to the oracle card and see that, once you let that image of yourself go, you’ll find you’re as beautiful underneath as the image you were trying to project.

The figure’s arms are folded. She is blocking out the water—the love. You might want to unfold your arms and let some of life’s beauty in.

We all go through periods like this Capricorn, where we have to reevaluate; where we put ourselves on a path that turned out to be not quite what we expected—not quite what we wanted. And then we have to change what we’re doing.

But The Moon card is saying that Spirit is there for you and it does want to help you in this process.

It’s okay to release that mask. It’s okay to want the love. It’s okay to want more than accolades for our material accomplishments. Those are great, but we need that Temperance—that balance—represented in the sunflower card.

And that is all Spirit wanted to say to you today. I hope you have a great week and I enjoyed being here with you today.

Bye for now.
