Aries May 9 – Following the Crow

Hello Aries, and welcome back to TenPaths Tarot. My name is Everett, and I’m really glad you could join me here today.

Spirit has a very encouraging message for you.

And we started out with the oracle card, which focuses on the crow. And the crow is a very smart–and now I see how this might tie to some of the other cards. That crow is very smart, and that usually helps him. He learns quickly.

The crow is also a teacher, and likes to help others to learn what it has learned. It’s also a bird that gives warning to other animals.

We have two sets of four cards, and we will start with the bottom four, which represents the recent past. And so the last card that popped out of the deck is Herne, the Hunter, or The Chariot. And here we have someone who is on a quest. And what I want you to pay attention to are the horns and how they’re wrapping this man’s hands. These horns indicate ram’s energy—forward motion. And Aries, you the ram.

But the horns are wrapping his hands and controlling his actions. So there’s a rashness to this. And the sword indicates that he wants to just cut through anything that’s in his way.

And what is this person after? They actually want the perfect life. Going counterclockwise, next is the Green Man, or The Emperor. They want to be totally in control of their life. And there’s some idealism here. They want to keep growing, which you can see. The Green Man is growing, but he also wants a family, as indicated by the bird and its eggs. And he wants personal transformation, as indicated by the butterfly. Basically, this person wants this perfect vision that they have.

But although this garden is beautiful, it cannot be completely controlled. If you are a gardener, you already know this. You will find that one plant is a little more dominant than another, and it starts to take over. Or you discover the arrival of uninvited guests. Yes, you love the butterflies and the birds, but the birds have to eat something, and the creatures they prey upon are going to be in your garden, too. And so this perfection that we envision doesn’t really exist. There always has to be compromise.

We can’t get that perfection, but sometimes we can get close–for a time. But remember, we are a part of nature. Even when we enclose ourselves in a house, we are still a part of nature, and part of the things around us. And we are never always in control.

But the Six of Mirrors indicates that achieving perfection is your goal. Or, for a time, you may have achieved a nice balance. In fact, six is the number of balance. Mirrors means our emotions. So you’ve got your emotions relatively under control. The garden is growing well, and we have something to shade us with the gazebo. And it all looks pretty peaceful.

And you say to yourself, “I can live with this. This is good.” And then the solution becomes to just not think about it too much. Those scrolls in the Four of Scrolls represent our thoughts. They’re blank because we’ve decided we’re not going any further. There’s no point writing on them.

And the figure is in a fetal position. And she is thinking, “Well, if I just stay perfectly still now and don’t disrupt this harmony in any way, then everything will be fine. It may not be perfect–may not be quite what I envisioned–but it’s okay.”

But then either something happens or, as human beings, we become dissatisfied. And so in the upper row of cards, we start with the Ten of Swords. Now in some decks, this indicates terrible pain and anguish. But this isn’t the vibration I get from this particular card. I see someone who has troubling thoughts. And s–she may be revisiting that perfect idea she had originally and realizing it cannot be. Although she wants to move forward, she feels stuck (no pun intended).

But look. She is researching a way out of this feeling; out of this dilemma; out of her own mental constructs. And so this card, even though it has quiet activity, suggests a lot of forward motion.

The next card is the Two of Swords. And here we have let our emotions run wild. Maybe we’ve thought about this a little too much–thought about too many what-ifs. “What if this disaster happens? What if other things happen? What if I move the wrong way?” And you will move the wrong way, since we are human. We will move right ways and wrong ways.

But look. Someone is coming to her rescue. And this may not be another person. This may be your “better half,” the better side of yourself, coming to calm yourself down. The swords–the thoughts– have been placed in the rocks. And in effect, we have reduced our negative thinking, having gone from a Ten of Swords to a Two. So this is actually forward motion.

And we’re so close to being free of these, “Oh, what if this happens? I’m a failure, because I couldn’t make my perfect dream come true.” Look at the figure. Her hands are in front of her. She can simply lift that blindfold and realize this is just a passing storm. It’ll be gone soon.

And once you regroup… Ahis this reading is saying you will indeed regroup. Then you’ll be like the King of Cups. This is someone completely in control of their emotions, or almost completely. We’re still human. And even when he’s out of control, he’s learned how to rein things in.

He still has a great deal of emotion, but he has the wherewithal to realize, “I have to think, too. I have to combine emotion and thought and get a grip on both.”

And so then what happens? The Queen of Pentacles. Your life here on earth will be a cornucopia. It will give you so much and keep pouring bounty upon you. All of the contents depicted could not possibly fit in the small container shown. The bounty is it’s never ending.

If you can merge the thought and emotion and not let either become the single overpowering force, blessings will come your way. We do need emotion. Emotion is the crow’s warning. When something isn’t going right, we usually get that intuitive vibe first. That’s the warning. If you feel yourself tensing up; if you feel yourself becoming too emotional; if you reach that state where only thought is emphasized… then this is a warning that balance is needed.

And so heed that warning, when you start feeling that you’re going too far in one direction or another. And then use what you know to change direction.

The crow is so clever. It watches what other crows do. That’s where the teacher energy comes in. One crow will often teach their companions how to forage more effectively. And crows watch for opportunities, and they know how to act upon those opportunities, which is even more important. But you can’t know how to act upon opportunities unless you’re in a balanced state.

So this is reading is for someone who had a goal that had to be altered. And that is okay, because we are not in control of everything—and you’re coming to grips with that uncertainty.

You’re a little afraid that you won’t be able to have anything that resembles that dream you wanted. Spirit is assuring you that you can. You can! But first take time for a deep breath. Slow your thinking down, if it’s going too fast or going in a dark direction. And then take what you’ve already learned from past lessons from– from what life has taught you– and then you can move ahead. Like the crow, forage very effectively and you will reap a great bounty.

That is all Spirit has for you today, Aries. I hope you enjoyed this reading.

Bye for now.
