Hello Capricorn and welcome back to TenPaths Tarot.
Today Spirit has a message about overcoming obstacles.
Now in this reading, we had repeat imagery, or repeat suits; repeat numbers in both sets of cards that I drew. And when I see those repeated messages, those are things that Spirit really wants me to emphasize.
And so today, the oracle card had the bear. Now the bear is someone who is very strong. They don’t even realize their own strength. They can move obstacles out of their way. They also can be very emotional. Bears are very emotional, and they can suddenly let their emotions get the better of them.
But we have the number ten at the top of the oracle card. And the ten means you have so much ability; that you can accomplish great things. You have that within you.
Now we had that bear to start off. And one of the cards, the Two of Stones, again had bear imagery. And this time that bear is stepping off a cliff, like The Fool in more traditional decks. So we have this very accomplished bear who is also very resourceful. And The Fool energy means starting afresh– seeing something in a new way. And this bear is ready to do that. He’s not going to fall. He’s going to step onto fresh ground.
And so that was the first thing that was repeated–that bear image. That is you Capricorn! That is you!
And we have the Two of Pentacles above the Two of Stones; and these are equivalent cards in different decks. So again we have a repetition. The youngster in the Two of Pentacles is juggling this material world that we live in. And the bear is surviving in the same material world. And sometimes they feel like they’re just surviving. They say to themselves, “It is too difficult, this earthly existence. I don’t know how to do this. I don’t know how to do this material life.”
Then we have another set of cards that I see as going together. We have the Six of Pentacles, which is about giving and receiving. It reminds us that giving and receiving are important. And this card was stacked above the Six of Spirals.
Now spirals can represent our dreams. But in this particular card, I want you to look at the imagery. In Celtic tradition, these flags were put out as an offering to the spirits—a request for blessings. But in Buddhist tradition, the flags are meant to expand blessings to the world. So here again, we have give and take emphasized.
And there are times when you may find yourself in a situation by which you feel trapped. You feel like the world has you trapped, and you don’t know which way to go. It seems like you’re always giving, but you don’t ever seem to get very much. And one thing that makes me say that is we have the Ten of Cups, and this figure appears to have given too much. She looks depressed because she’s given and given and given. And the response was, “Yeah, so what? So what?”
You wanted to give all of this love, but maybe the other person didn’t need all of that love; or maybe that’s not what they wanted. You wanted to give and give and give, but that’s not what they wanted to receive. And so the giving and receiving has to be balanced.
And when I see this Ten of Cups, I see some one reflecting on their behavior; how they gave so much, and it didn’t pay off. But paying off is not the meaning of giving. We give without expectation of receiving.
And so because of that, it feels like the world–all of your dreams– are leaving you. The Eight of Wands indicates that, for a while, it felt as though you had it all. But now your dreams are escaping you, and you’re left here on earth.
And so what we want is time to reflect. And when I see the Three of Stones below the Eight of Wands, I see wise counsel. The number three represents instability. It can represent temporary celebration, but temporary is the word. Something is going to change that’s going to upset everything. We think everything is going good, but then everything goes up in flames, like the blazing campfire. But then look at the reflective owls around that fire. They ponder, “What went wrong? Did we do something? Did the other person do something? In dealing with the whole situation, were we true to ourselves– or did we just try to go in like Herne the Hunter (The Chariot)?” Maybe we demanded life to give us what it couldn’t. And now we need a new outlook.
We need that Fool-type of energy that says, “I’m going to take my resourcefulness– I’m going to take what I’ve learned– and I’m going to move on.” And “I may juggle this in my mind a bit. I’m going to be a little playful with it.”
I think that would help. If you are a little playful with it. Don’t look at it as the last problem you’ll ever face. It won’t be. This is just one of many. And how you get through it–how you learn from it–will set the tone for other times in your life.
And so it’s important for you to draw on what you are. And that is that resourceful bear. That bear, he can eat a multitude of things. He’s strong. He doesn’t let obstacles get him down. He just plows right through them, or he moves what’s in his way.
And that is Spirit’s message here. Spirit wants you to realize that there is give and take in the world. And sometimes we think that something is being given to us, but instead it’s given to another to help them. Or we receive something we don’t want, but it helps us to grow in a way in which we’re lacking.
Sometimes we want to give ourselves wise counsel. We can be all three owls. We can look at things from different perspectives and see where we might have done something differently; also evaluate whether we looking at things the way we wanted to look at them, instead of the way they were? Because I think we all have a tendency to do that. And then we get angry– more angry at ourselves in retrospect than we were at the situation or the person that we felt brought all of this negativity on. We might have seen the truth, but decided to blind ourselves to it.
And so that is what Spirit wanted to talk to you about today. Spirit wants to assure you, you are strong; you are resilient; your life will continue to go on. Yes, this time you gave way too much of yourself. This happens. We all do it. Every Loving person does this at some point.
Next time, approach things as a balance. Next time, give– that’s good. But you also have to reflect on what it is you’re getting back. It has to be a balance, or it’s not sustainable.
And I hope you got something from this today, Capricorn. That’s all I have for you. I enjoyed being here with you, and I hope to see you again soon.
